Stubbo - I reckon you've called it right. Yarmolenko has to start. Obiang rather than Rice, though I would hope Rice is at least restored to the bench. I would think Diop will come in for Ogbonna, who has looked really ponderous, for me.

Does anybody know why the OS is showing Ko at 1600?

Re: Team for Arsenal
I'd like to see Lucas Perez given a go considering he has a point to prove against his former club.
I wasn't aware he scored a hatrick for Arsenal and dropped the next game.
Wilshire will also play well, can't see us getting fuck all but fingers crossed.

Re: Team for Arsenal
4 changes according to Ex, including Noble.

Means two of:

Snodgrass
Masuaku
Chicharito
Ogbonna+Balbuena
Zabaleta

...will still be in the side.

My guess is Zabaleta and Masuaku remain, Sanchez for Noble, Obiang or Rice for Chicharito, Yarmalenko for Snodgrass, Diop for one of Ogbonna or Balbuena.

Hoping Antonio back on the bench too.

Re: Team for Arsenal
Notice no one is sticking with Snodgrass!

I suspect we'll be back to the 4-3-3 we played vs Liverpool, with Wilshere, Sanchez, and either Rice or Obiang in the 3.

Chicharito back on the bench.

Conventional back 4.

Don't think we'll see Fredericks again until the backline is performing to orders.

Diop in tomorrow?

Re: Team for Arsenal
I think I'd go for Rice in that holding role. We may as well push through games we are unlikely to win and see if he manages to grow into the position.

Re: Team for Arsenal
Change my mind again, this is it for me, I’ve cracked it!

Fabianski
Fredericks Rice Ogbonna Cresswell
Obiang Wilshire Sanchez
Yarmolenko Arnie Anderson

Rice with something to prove, pace from Fredericks, Wilshire pulling strings in midfield while Obiang and Sanchez do their best to marshal in front of the back 4.

Re: Team for Arsenal

I can’t get my head round why you and others think 3 at the back will save is defensively.

We played it for the majority of games last season and conceded more goals than any other side.

If the players in defensive positions don’t / won’t / can’t do their jobs properly you could play 6 at the back and we’d still concede goals.

This but Yarmolenko (or maybe Perez given the opposition) over Antonio.

Also I'd start Wilshere as part of the midfield 3 and give him licence to drive forward with the other two sitting rather than have him as a number 10.

Re: Team for Arsenal
Fabianski

Fredericks
Diop
Ogbonna
Cresswell

Obiang
Sanchez

Anderson
Wilshere
Antonio

I'm sure no-one will second guess which crackpot team MP decides to field. no change in formation by the sounds of it so lets all pray for a miracle.

Re: Team for Arsenal
Bellerin is going to have a field day getting in behind our left side.

Cut back for whoever. We have to go out and play a bit, let's see how good our new signings are!

Re: Team for Arsenal
Think what we’ll see over next few games is Pelly forcing the players to adapt to his system, rather than adapting his system to fit the players (with all their limitations) as Moyes had to.

So 4 at the back, 2 in CM. If this is the way forward, he has to go for pace and work rate or we’ll get overrun and smashed.

Re: Team for Arsenal
Well thank fuck Noble is out but I don't think it will make a bit of difference to the result the way Arsenal played against Chelsea and Chelsea we aint. I really hope that I'm wrong, obviously, but oh dear if he puts out a back 4 again with this ridiculous high line and no press from midfield we are in the poo. He needs to put a back 3 in place and two wing backs to help clutter up the midfield and stop them galloping into oceans of space between the back 4 and the static 2 midfielders.

I don't hold out much hope on either a change of tactics or the result to be honest.

Re: Team for Arsenal
The defenders seem to have lost confidence in what they are being asked to do. Ogbonna should be the organiser but he's turned to shit. Balbuena shaped up well in the early pre-season games but no longer looks the part. Rice and Fredericks were kicked out of the squad for the Bournemouth game. How has that gone down with the other players? Not very well I would suggest.
We have two left backs unable to defend to PL standard.
Looks like Noble is about to be replaced by the Colombian hit man.
This has all the potential of Arsenal having an excellent afternoon.

Re: Team for Arsenal
Apparently he's come out and said we're not going to change much at the weekend - we need to trust each other, believe in the system and perform better.

If we don't get beat by at least 3 goals I will be amazed. Amazed I tell you.

I feel a lot less confident about this fixture than I ever did with Moyes and Bilic and look how we did with them...

April 2018 4-1
Dec 2017 1-0 (League cup)
April 2017 3-0
April 2016 3-3
March 2015 3-0

But we now have a top class manager and have spent 100m
We need a unlikely turn around...
